It was great to get out to The Rumble last weekend and shoot some photos at this important event!
The Rumble is an annual fundraising event hosted by the Carolina Climbers Coalition and based around a climbing competition at Rumbling Bald in Chimney Rock State Park. This event is a special opportunity for the community to get together and climb in an effort to help fund climbing access and environmental conservation. It’s actually pretty wild to think about how many of these amazing climbing areas are teetering on the brink of development or being lost to us as climbers, but the CCC puts so much effort toward changing that potential outcome.
This year, The Rumble has taken on an even greater meaning after we experienced the devastation brought on by Hurricane Helene just over a year ago. Chimney Rock was an area that took an especially hard hit, with parts of the town completely wiped off the map.
In 2025, the CCC wasn’t able to host The Rumble due to the hurricane. So, this year, back and better than ever, The Rumble not only represents the power of the Carolina Climbing Community, but also the rebuilding of a wonderful town and the start of the next chapter for climbers in the area.
