PETE GUILLARD
Owner & Guide
Pete Guillard has been living and playing in Western North Carolina for well over a decade. He has climbed all over the country, from the sunny high deserts of the southwest to the granite domes of the southeastern forests. Pete cut his teeth at Rumbling Bald right here in Hickory Nut Gorge, NC. The Bald is where he spent every free moment during his college years learning the art of traditional climbing and bouldering.
What qualifies Pete to be your guide?
Pete holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Outdoor Education from Montreat College with a minor in Environmental Studies and has completed the following courses and exams making him an American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA) Certified Rock Guide:
– AMGA Single Pitch Instructor course and exam
– AMGA Advanced Rock Guide course and Assistant exam
– AMGA Rock Guide course and exam
Pete holds to the AMGA scope of practice and has also completed and held a Wilderness First Responder certification since 2013.
Pete has been guiding rock climbing trips since 2010. From the early years of taking Montreat students out to Linville Gorge and Rumbling Bald, Single Pitch instructing for Camp Merri-Mac in Black Mountain, NC, and The Climbing Life Guides in Joshua Tree, CA to his tenure at Fox Mountain Guides and his last held position as Head Guide at Cultivate Climbing Guides, Pete has been deep in the sport both personally and professionally for the last 15 years!
Pete can honestly say he is the most prepared he’s ever been to help guide you in your climbing journey. He continues to push himself at the cliff and in the boulder field to better refine his abilities and the continued search for personal limits.
When he’s not on the rocks, you’ll likely find him enjoying time with his wife and dog, taking photos of WNC’s great landscapes, or playing guitar.
